1984

Title Sequence

This reimagined title sequence for the Korean adaptation of 1984 draws inspiration from George Orwell’s seminal dystopian novel. Utilizing a fusion of red Gothic-style 3D animation and dark techno music by Gesaffelstein, the sequence explores themes of surveillance, censorship, and authoritarian control. The imagery—marked by the omnipresent gaze of Big Brother, imposing cityscapes, and the Party’s oppressive slogans—constructs a visually intense and immersive atmosphere. Through this stylistic approach, the sequence seeks to evoke the novel’s central concerns: the distortion of truth, the mechanisms of power, and the pervasive fear instilled by an all-seeing regime.

Procedural study

I used C4D's procedural features to create rocks of various materials, which serve as the central visual elements of the work.

Each uniquely shaped rock enhances the sense of depth and realism, reinforcing the oppressive and stark atmosphere of 1984.

Lighting

Lighting plays a crucial role in this artwork as well. After conducting various tests to showcase structures with a subtle ambiance, the most suitable lens translucency and light direction were chosen to effectively create the unique atmosphere of 1984.

The careful orchestration of lighting elements not only enhances the visual appeal but also deeply immerses the audience in the intended mood, embodying a professional approach to artistic illumination in line with the dystopian themes of 1984.
